From WikiProducers
Interface administrators
Interface administrators are trusted members of WikiProducers with special technical permissions to edit the site’s interface, including pages in the MediaWiki namespace, site-wide CSS, and JavaScript files.
Responsibilities
- Customizing the look and feel of WikiProducers through CSS.
- Adding, modifying, or removing JavaScript that affects the wiki’s functionality.
- Maintaining templates, modules, and gadgets used across the site.
- Ensuring all interface changes are secure, functional, and consistent with WikiProducers branding.
Why this role is important
Interface administrators control changes that affect how the site works for all users. This requires:
- Advanced technical skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MediaWiki markup.
- A clear understanding of accessibility and usability best practices.
- A commitment to security, avoiding code that could expose user data or harm the wiki.
Selection
Only highly trusted members are granted interface administrator rights, usually after:
- Significant technical contributions to the wiki.
- Demonstrated expertise in MediaWiki customization.
- Approval from Bureaucrats or site founders.
Caution
Edits made by interface administrators have site-wide impact. Any changes to core scripts or styles should be tested and documented before deployment.
